So, here is the deal. Doss and I feel it is necessary to share our awesome experiences with the world. And what better medium to share through than Reality TV. There is most definitely a possibility that what we experienced last night was not funny at all, but I know for a fact that Doss and I enjoyed every moment of it. So, our plan to return to Chile for the next summer program is to shop a reality tv show to a few networks and have them pay for everything. Trust me, its going to happen. We will use the band next door for our theme song, and from there the rest will fall into place. Oh yeah, and the title of our show will be "The Calles de Antofagasta" (which sounds more impressive than The Streets of Antofagasta when you translate into the fantastic language of Español!)
So, our mama nueva is friends with a bunch of English teachers (the lovely old ladies you see in the picture) who she invited over to our house last night for tecito (tea time). They were so enthralled by our American accents and spoke very well, but kept asking us to repeat things so they could say them correctly. I am just glad they aren´t speaking a freakish accented Chilean español that sounds like mumbling. Doss and I both realized that after a while during the day, our brian shuts off to learning more español. Its amazing that when you know what the brain needs to function properly, you allow yourself to shut it off when needed. So we had a lot to laugh about last night because we were exhausted. A full day of screaming kids is one thing, and when they don´t even scream in your language its another. Then there is darling Juan who screamed inappropriate words today in English...which I obviously understood.
The scene played like this:
I said "Juan, what is this?"
"chair"
"Juan, what is this?"
"door"
Then, I said "Juan, go out the door and sit in the chair!" "Ok, Mr. Jake!"
That´s how you deal with that. So by the end of a day like that, I am less than ready to turn on my brain for learning of my own. I did tell them that I love the challenge of learning español with no help, which is no lie, I have a lot of fun. I was more ready for learning how to get to bed before 11pm without being fed 3 more meals however. Well, maybe some other day.
The plan for the weekend is to travel up north to a cheap beach resort called Iquique, so we have to go plan for that...yeah...sure, let´s plan at the beach! I miss you all, thanks for your replies!

Jake, it sounds like you are having fun!!! And your mama sounds so sweet!
Dude! The more stories you tell the more I think the title of the show should be "La Vida Surreal!"
I was so disappointed when I clicked on the link for your own reality TV show... I thought you were going to have a preview or something. ;) Anyways, I totally love how you handled darling Juan. If this was myspace I'd give you two Kudos (okay, so I know that sounded corny... but... yeah). :) I hope you have a great weekend!
